2. Technology

While an urgent care center may not have the same technology that a large hospital does, they may be more up to date than the other smaller practices and doctor’s offices in your town. About 40% of urgent care centers have the capability to use electronic prescription ordering systems, are using computerized systems for viewing lab and imaging results, and are electronically collecting patient demographics, billing, condition and procedure coding, and clinical notes. If this technology is something you’d like to learn, an urgent care center is a great place to start.

3. Fast-Paced

Did you know that about one in five urgent care facilities see more than 450 patients each week? Also, a survey done by The Urgent Care Association of America showed that 57% of patients wait 15 minutes or less to be seen and the majority of all visits (80%) are 60 minutes or less. This is one of the many reasons there are many urgent care jobs for you to choose from. Great nurses at urgent care centers are in high demand, so if you love a fast-paced environment, an urgent care clinic may be the perfect place for you.
