Why is Dental Health so Important?

Your oral health is just as important as the health of any other part of your body. But sadly, many Americans neglect their dental hygiene. This can create a host of issues not just in the mouth, teeth, and gums, but across the entire body. Oral health is critical to overall wellbeing.

It’s critical that the average adult visits a dentist at least twice a year. A dental visit every six months is the typical, recommended amount.

However, keep in mind that this is a minimum! Many adults visit the dentist more frequently than this, to address specific issues or get consultation for individual issues. If you are experiencing pain, discomfort, or anything else that feels unusual or uncomfortable in your mouth, you should have a dentist examine you right away.

While your at-home hygiene habits are very important, visiting the dentist at least twice a year is just as critical as all the brushing and flossing you’re doing in between those visits. During a regular dental checkup, the dentist will examine you for any issues that you may not be privy to. The dentist will also provide cleaning with professional-grade equipment to remove plaque and other debris from the teeth in a way that’s much more powerful than a simple toothbrush.
