Low testosterone (or low T, as it is commonly referred to) is a serious medical condition that affects up to 13 million American men — only a handful of whom will seek professional treatment. Up to 90% of patients with testosterone deficiency will not seek treatment. What is low t? Low testosterone is a condition predominately affecting men in which a man’s natural testosterone levels are below normal. If left untreated, low testosterone can cause serious medical issues such as fatigue, increased body fat, decreased strength and muscle mass, lowered libido, high blood pressure, and depression. It is even known to decrease life expectancy.
Fortunately, there are treatments available for men with low testosterone. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), one of the leading treatments, has a track record of success with patients. TRT is the process of increasing a man’s testosterone levels by giving him synthetic hormones. The hormones can be administered via injection, gels, pills, and even small pellets that are embedded into to the body under the skin! Regardless of how it is actually administer, TRT can increase a patient’s testosterone level and return his life back to comfort in a matter of weeks.
Though testosterone replacement therapy is somewhat controversial, many studies have shown that it does not have any significant side effects nor does it inflict any damage to the body. Men who have undergone treatment often feel better, physically and mentally, and are able to lead normal, healthy, and happy lives. Decreased strength and increased body fat no longer is an issue after the therapy, among other improvements.
If you notice decreased strength or any of the other symptoms of low testosterone, you should check out possible testing and treatment options immediately. Don’t let low testosterone get the better of you. Nip the problem from the buds.
